accept my apologies as some technical problems have effected my ability to post pictures. however, i would like to take advantage of the opportunity to address a topic which i never imagined i would become so intimately familiar, but which has heavily troubled me nonetheless. as one peripheral effect of having a three year old daughter, i have been exposed to more of the society of the "my little ponies" than i care to dwell on. i do feel, though, that i need to raise a couple of points of interest, as a three minute episode of ponies raises questions more numerous and puzzling than does an entire season of lost.the ponies live in a city built by human hands. brick and mortar homes, stone roads, castles, amusement parks and all the intricacies which can only be made with opposable thumbs (or, at least something more than an un-shoed hoof). there are, however, no signs of human life anywhere. in fact, the entire city is populated by about six brightly colored ponies. the population has no hope for perpetuation- all the ponies are female (and by my best estimation based on behavior, around five years of age), which leaves us wondering what it was that caused the near extinction of their technicolored race. war is the obvious conclusion, although we can't rule out the possibility of disease. whatever it was that claimed all but a handful of these kaleidoscopic equines, famine is out. while the ponies neither reap nor sew, they have a seemingly endless surplus of sugars and flours and they subsist exclusively on baked goods. as the species teeters on the brink of compete annihilation, the mini-mares seem to have no comprehension of the severity of their post-apocalyptic situation. they carry on in a daily jubilee of overall revelry and merriment. indeed, the most troubling predicament they ever seem aware of is an overcooked pastry.
i have not fully put out of my mind the possibility of some unseen slave race which performs all the functions necessary to allow the ponies their carefree lifestyle, although admittedly the story of the slaves would be of much greater interest to me than that of the ponies themselves.
